Em-Power Days, May 2010
Ahhh May, a soft syllable and a gentle name for a time of year that makes anything seem possible. The great ‘Prophet’ Kalil Gibran advised us to “be like a flower and turn our face to the sun” in May so we could bask in these days of daffodils and violets, soft breezes and hope. Optimism! Opportunity! May! I mean, can any month that heralds and hearkens us to send big love to big Mama be bad? Christians celebrate Our Lady, the heavenly Virgin Mary in May, while all the rest of us should be going greener for Gaia now too. And, of course, thoughts will turn mid-month to the one woman who breathed life into our being while nurturing our psyches and feeding our souls; whoever and whatever that May mean to each and every one. Mother, May I? Three words forever intertwined.
Some say May is like the birthday of the world as the earth blooms big and sings to the softly whispering trees. And even as we age day by springtime day, May, like me, stays forever young. From the dew on the grass allowing eternal beauty oh so early on to the Skinny Girl tequila taking on Cinco de Uh Oh, to the graduates and the brides prepping for their June aisle Do’s, May makes even ready get ready.
It’s the end of next month that promises economic mania and international mayhem. And although some see terrorism, California earthquakes and an additional volcanic explosion (or two?) during May, all we see, you and I, is growth and increase as even the buds will most surely remember to bloom. You will too. Just don’t forget, okay?

May 1 - Nothing astrological here but I did want to remind that legend says if you ‘wash’ your face in the dew from this morning’s grass (only on this day, only once a year!) then you will be forever beautiful while staying eternally young. No portraits Dorian, just me sharin’, just me sayin’! You can thank me later. And later. And later. And…
May 3 - Mercury trines Pluto which is aptly apropos for the big bucks energy these pairing planets promise. And entirely supportive for a UK bank holiday! A celestial celebration of business and bankers and brokers today touched off by the Brits. Pitch your perfect project and take that major meeting. Money talks. I mean that. Literally. Place an image, a statue, a figurine of a dragon facing some ‘nearby’ water (ocean, river, stream or FOUNTAIN.) All else fails put the dragon by your KITCHEN sink facing the faucet. NEVER EVER place a dragon in a bath or laundry room or your money will get flushed away. We want the other flush. All other financial worries now down the drain. Loving that dragon.
May 4 - Sun squares Mars. Pragmatic and practical stop butting heads with creative and visionary. C’mon you kids, can’t you all just get along? Play nice. Okay, okay, someone hang a clear quartz crystal in the center of the bedroom to bring the balance. There you go, all better now.
May 5 - Cinco de Mayo. It’s okay to let the tequila do the talking because we’re astro energy free today. Must be from all that balancing you did yesterday!
May 7 - Venus smooching up her cuddle-bunny consort Mars. Friendly flirting and even friendlier ‘fire’ can really heat up a relationship you didn’t even see coming. No pun. Don’t be afraid to take next steps with this one. They might eventually lead you down the aisle. Two pink roses, thorns removed, in a white vase on your nightstand. Change to two new roses every three days for three times total. No lie. True love.
May 9 - Mother’s Day. I love you mom. And son, you are the LIGHT of my life. Planets taking the day to send flowers and make calls. Follow suit.
May 11 - Mercury TURNS DIRECT in Taurus. Go ahead and hit ‘send.’ IT’s okay. I swear.
May 13 - New Moon in Taurus. ‘Here is the New Moon. The New Moon has arrived. Be lucky for me now … You’ve found me penniless … Leave me rich and prosperous. Leave us with money. Leave us with good health. Leave us with love.’ Because I said so.
May 17 - Sun sextiles Jupiter. Crazy creative. Use ‘The Seven Color Rainbow System’ (bring together red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet) in your ‘CHILDREN/CREATIVITY’ area (see www.ellenwhitehurst.com and hit the Bagua link to locate.) By using all these colors of the rainbow you are putting yourself over it. When you reach the apex though you might meet the invisible higher forces whose assistance this cure invokes. Say ‘hi’ from me.

May 19 - Venus enters Cancer and Sun squares Neptune…and Venus….and then Venus squares Uranus. Somebody take the Ritalin away from Venus will ya? In the mean, because she’s being mean, this is the crap day of the whole month. Especially where your relationships are concerned. Think China and Tibet. Then roll your prayer wheel or hang your prayer flags or just do this: Invoke the intercession of Angel Theliel three times and then say this; “I am my divine, harmonious relationship NOW made manifest.” Oh great thanks to you J Cornug for allowing the rest of us tap that ancient secret! Might even make today doable. Nah. Never mind. But it’ll help.
May 23 - Jupiter opposes Saturn. Balance the books by bringing a practical budget to inspirational projects. With Venus also opposing Pluto and family in the forefront money might not be the only thing on your mind. Hug a tree. I’m serious. Today. Hug a tree. May 27 - Full Moon in Sagittarius while Uranus enters Aries for the first timesince 1927. Astrologically a gangbusta day! Leading into some gangsta energies shooting first and asking questions later. They start next month. Holla. Hang feathers that YOU FIND now anywhere around your front door. Protection of the cosmic kind. BIG protection of the cosmic kind. Yeah, that’s what I should have said.
